Wow! Sussex & Reilly is bought by Sudler Sotheby’s

Usually your guides don’t comment on the actions of other Real Estate companies.  Couldn’t resist this news from Crain’s Chicago Business today, though.

Sudler Sotheby’s International Realty says it has acquired Century 21 Sussex & Reilly, a residential brokerage that specializes in North Side properties.

The deal doubles the size of Sudler to about 500 residential brokers and gives it a total of 10 Chicago offices, including the Gold Coast, Lakeview, Hyde Park and North Center and in the Loop at 213 N. Stetson Ave.

Which I think is pretty wild considering the meteoric rise of Sussex & Reilly from its humble beginnings as Sean Conlon’s company when he split off from Koenig & Strey’s Lincoln Park office.

I didn’t see this one coming at all.

This leaves @properties as one of the last larger, but privately owned, brokerages in Chicago.  Vive la Independance!
